the first webpage was proposed in 1990 and published online on 6th August 1991 at Cern in Geneva.
The reason why the first webpage was created was to "link and access information of various kinds as a web of nodes in which the user can browse at will"
Day by day people stumble upon new things which the internet can do.
"the internet is changing on a daily basis"
First ever site:
"The WorldWideWeb (W3) is a wide-area hypermedia information retrieval initiative aiming to give universal access to a large universe of documents."
1992, the world's first web server; a 'NeXT' computer designed and built by Steve jobs.
HTML Hyper text mark up language - The standard language used in the creation of web pages
HTTP Hyper text transfer protocol - The basis for the transfer of data across the World wide web
(We will be learning about HTML not HTTP)

Trends:
The decline of Skeuomorphism - Real world metaphors for webdesign
Eg. If a website is imitating a real world substance such as steel finish
A computerised calendar which appears to be made out of paper.
More of human feel.
The rise of flat design- Prominent in phones
Rather than things looking 3D and gradients etc, things are now flat and 2D
2D and cartoon looking is flat design, Skeuomorphism is generally 3D looking
Single page websites - Scrolls downwards such as 'Addictive daughter'
A websites SEO (search engine optimisation) is affected massively - Websites become a lot harder to find in this mode due to only having one page rather than multiple.
Eg. Apple then when you click on the iphone link, the tab becomes Apple iphone
There are ways around this in the modern day though.
Responsive design/ Reactive design - A website in which the composition changes depends on the format.
Works towards pixel
Eg. different if you're on a screen rather than a smart phone.
Type based websites - Cheaper than using images as it requires a lot less bandwidth.
Every website 'Should' have a grid system.
What is the purpose of this website?
Who is the target audience?
What does the Audience need?
Eg. Information about converse trainers - To educate and entertain.
Web restrictions:
Size - consider size, scale and file sizes
Colour - RGB not CMYK
Fonts - Font has to be on every single computer
(Time new Roman is the default font if your chosen font doesn't exist)
Can't work with tracking or image.
Can upload fonts to the web server so all screens can see this font, but if you do this with a copy righted font, everyone can download it from the server.
(Google fonts + Atfontface)
