Royal mint coin research:

Royal mint coin research:

I have chosen to photograph high quality images of current coins which were inside my wallet. I am doing this to get a grasp of the designs on the current coins and also to see the angles and how they look once the design has been embossed/raised onto the coin using hot metal.

Current circulating pound coin.
Look like quite an old from the damage on the coin and the scratches but this is most likely the pound coin that everyone thinks of when they are asked to imagine a coin.

I think these photographs will give me an insight into how coins actually look and how they age over time, I should consider how they age and their legibility once they have circulated for a few years and become worn.
