Fred's colour theory:

Fred's colour theory session taught us about tone and contrast, and how different coloured objects can appear with a different shade and tone when places atop of varied colour backgrounds.

Coloured objects were chosen to test how the eye reacted on each coloured background.
As you can see, the first item was a small green book with an uncoated texture (no varnish or gloss).

The contrasting colours had a bigger reaction to the human eye, rather than these photographs; this is due to the camera enhancing and changing the colour temperatures in the image.

The green diary's colour was complimented by the colours in the background. The orange and red colours gave the item a calmer tone and the green sank into the background, where the two colours became closer to each other.

This task taught my lots about how using two different colours in a design can have a bigger impact on each other than one may initially think.
